Alexandroupolis, the capital of the Regional Unit of Evros, is a historical city the inhabitants of which respect and preserve their traditions. At the same time however, it is a city full of youthful energy. Which means that the visitor, besides the dozens of interesting museums and archaeological sites, has innumerable choices for entertainment.
Starting from the smart cafes that offer coffee varieties and delicious brunches and remind the guest of European metropoles, the vintage patisseries and atmospheric bars with up to date cocktail lists, and continuing to some of the best seafood restaurants in Greece that serve the freshest straight from the fishermen's nets.
This is not to say that the gastronomic mosaic of the city leaves out the all time classic grills and traditional tavernas that showcase the local recipes and the local producers as sophisticated wine restaurants. All you have to do is walk along the seaside or wander on the pedestrian roads to see the best of this hospitable border city.
